Registered cars per brand in Portugal (2019-2022)

While learning to use Vega-Lite I've created a dashboard to analyse the car registrations in Portugal per brand. The interactive version of the dashboard is available in the following address: https://paginas.fe.up.pt/~jlborges/vis/cars_dashboard/db.html The Dashboard represents real data about the monthly number of registered cars per Brand in Portugal and the Registrations for Toyota in 2019 and 2020 are highlighted. The data was provided by ACAP . The first plot shows the total number of Registrations per year and per month. You can click on a line to select a year to filter most of the other plots. Also, shift-click enables to select more than one year and double-click to reset the selection. The second plot shows the total number of registrations per month for each Brand, for the years selected in the first plot. Charles II of Spain: Unraveling Ancestral Insights Through Contextual Family Tree Analysis

Explore the fascinating application of our Contextual Family Tree (CFT) in analyzing the ancestry of Charles II of Spain. Charles II (6.11.1661-1.11.1700) stands as a prominent example of consanguinity, experiencing various health issues and marking the end of the Spanish Habsburgs with his distinctive jaw. Charles II entered matrimony twice, the initial union being with Marie Louise. Our visual representation employs a vertical alignment of their respective birth years, highlighting Charles as slightly older than Marie. The spatial arrangement of their boxes provides insights into Marie Louise's significantly shorter lifespan compared to Charles, a fact reinforced by age labels at the time of their deaths. A horizontal line with a double ring signifies their ages at the time of marriage, portraying the temporal dimension of their union. Notably, Marie Louise's sole marriage was with Charles. The effect covid-19 and chip shortage on car registrations in Portugal

Update - a new animation that includes de data for 2022 Car sales have been severely affected in 2020 by the covid-19 pandemic and then in 2021 by the chip shortage. To analyse that, I've created an animated visualization from the data available in https://www.autoinforma.pt/pt/estatisticas that provides monthly passenger car's registrations per month since 2015 in Portugal. The green boxes give the monthly minimum, maximum and median values for the 5 years period before the pandemic (2015-2019). The animated lines show the values for 2020 (in blue) and 2021 (in red). In 2020 we can see the effect of the first pandemic with a big drop in sales in March and April. Things got better in August but with the sales never reaching high levels. In 2021 the monthly values are always bellow the observed before the pandemic. It is difficult to distinguish what was due to the pandemic or to the chip shortage. The plot was created using ggplot2 and the gganimate package.
